Generic Comapazine Tablet An Antiemetic And Antipsychotic Tranquilizer Indicated For Nausea And Vomiting Part 1

Introduction:

Being a phenothiazine derivative, Prochlorperazine is present in tablets as the maleate. It is a viscous liquid having a clear, pale yellow color and readily dissolves in alcohol, chloroform and ether and is slightly soluble in water. Falling under the category of antiemetic and antipsychotic tranquilizer, the Prochlorperazine Maleate is available in the form of tablets to be administered orally under the trade name of Generic Generic Comapazine. Each Generic Comapazine tablets is round in shape and yellow green in color containing 5 mg of Prochlorperazine Maleate and imprinted with SKF and C66.

Indication:

The Generic Generic Comapazine tablets are indicated for treating nausea and vomiting. It is also prescribed for the patients suffering from schizophrenia.

Dosage And Administration:

Dosage for adults:

The dosage of Generic Comapazine should be decided depending on the responsiveness of the patient to the drug. In debilitated or emaciated patients, the dosage should be increased more gradually.

The normal dosage of Prochlorperazine Maleate for adults suffering from severe nausea and vomiting is a single dose of 15 to 30 mg day. Only in resistant cases, the dosage may be 40 mg per day and should be taken as a single dose.

The normal dosage for adults suffering from psychiatric disorders, especially non-psychotic anxiety is 15 mg to 20 mg per day. The dosages should be adjusted as per the responsiveness of the patient and severity of the disease but should not exceed 20 mg per day.

For patients suffering from psychotic disorders including Schizophrenia and are in relatively mild conditions, a dose of 5 or 10 mg may be given for three to four times in a day.
